TMD Building Consultancy was founded in 1991 following a management buyout of the building surveying division of Teacher Marks Deal. Two original directors, Neil Sennett and Robert Pritchard were joined by Simon Gibb, formerly of Amos Broome Associates, later that year. In 1997 David Copsey became a Director of the practice having trained and qualified at TMD. The four directors between them own approximately 95% of the equity.

Over the past thirteen years the company has grown steadily. The company’s client base is almost exclusively in the private sector, commercial property field and includes institutional, blue chip and private companies. TMD are committed to professional management and staff development and in 1995 became the first dedicated building surveying practice to achieve the National Standard for Investors In People.
